It was a beautiful day. The crowds thronged, the stalls traded. Thousands of colourful and happy people.
And a sizable proportion of whom visited the York for Europe. We fielded an articulate band of about a dozen supporters who chatted with visitors and gave out copious supplies of literature and stickers. The rude stickers go down best.
Our visitors were most encouraging for a number of reasons - pleased that the pro-European movement still has an active and consistent voice, comments were encouraging, optimistic and thoughtful. And the biggest plus - so many of our visitors were young. The world can only get better while people like those are making their way through it.
