Saturday 10th October ~ Street Stall, St Helen's Square York

Again back to our usual spot in St Helen's Square, York.

It took place at an interesting time politically. The Labour Party is opening its mind more to Europe. And much of the remaining political scene is confusing.

Although autumn was making itself known a steady throng was in York. We had quite a lot of interest, noticeably from young people. Perhaps that is partly because the universities are back. We had our usual friendly greetings from visitors from all over Europe.

Possibly because we had a good turnout of our volunteers, there were many longer conversations. Our "How close do you want to be board" was a source of general interest and genuine questions.

One take-away lesson we learned mainly through having to repeatedly explain our board is that we may at times over-estimate what much of the the electorate knows. We had to explain over again terms on the board which active pro-Europeans may assume are general knowledge. They are not; we have a lot of work to do....
