An international movement calling itself “Art of Protest” has been
operating in many European Cities and Towns to transform the
appearance of public spaces for the better.
This
includes painting shop fronts, painting on walls, creating furniture
and sculptures, all for public enjoyment.
Their latest work in York can be seen at the “No 4 Church Lane
Café”. On behalf the Café, Tess and Paul, said they were both
delighted with the work and the professionalism displayed by the
team of artists involved, led by Brenna and Jeff. When you next go
into the City Centre, go and have a look at the café’s new
shopfront. The café is located at the back of St Michael’s Church
Spurriergate at the Ousegate end of Coney Street. It might inspire
you to get involved in this project yourself.
The group
in York recently painted a series of murals called “York’s Lockdown
Heroes” as portraits of those who were playing an active role in
fighting the corona virus, and in making York a safer place to live
and work.
